Georgia prospect Xavier McKinney (Roswell, Georgia) has removed the home-state Bulldogs from his list and is eyeing three finalists as he prepares to announce his commitment. He took an official visit to Athens on Dec. 2, but has since decided to eliminate UGA.

Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State are all in the mix, however the Buckeyes appear to be a long-shot at the time due to what Rivals recruiting analyst Woody Womack describes as “a number of problems” regarding OSU. McKinney used official visits to check out all three during the season, and also took an unofficial visit to Clemson.

Ranked the nation’s No. 180 overall prospect and No. 17 safety, McKinney originally committed to Alabama in September of 2015, but re-opened his recruitment prior to the start of the 2016 season.

As far as factors, distance to home is not of concern to McKinney. Early playing time, a winning and family-oriented program, and coaching at the next level are items he’s taking into consideration.

McKinney will reveal his college decision, which he says he’s already made, at the Under Armour All-America Game on Sunday. Current belief is that Clemson will land him.
