With the dead period now over, here’s a look at a mock 2017 recruiting class for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Urban Meyer is collecting an absurd number of 5-star recruits.

It’s a tall order to find another team with as much talent as the Buckeyes are packing right now in their 2017 class.

Urban Meyer’s staff has collected eight 5-star recruits and could be adding one more to that list on National Signing Day. Ohio State also boasts 20 4-star commits after losing a commitment from wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey.

With it being highly unlikely for Lindsey to return to the class, here’s a look at a mock Ohio State Buckeyes recruiting class.

    Quarterback

    Tate Martell, 5-Star

He’s not the biggest quarterback, but Martell reminds Meyer a lot of Chris Leak, his title-winning QB back at Florida.

    Running Back

    J.K. Dobbins, 4-Star

He’s listed as an athlete, but Dobbins will likely carry the rock out of the backfield.

    Wide Receiver

    Trevon Grimes, 5-Star

There are few things Grimes can’t do when healthy. However, he is recovering from a torn ACL.

    Jaylen Harris, 4-Star

The Buckeyes are in a great spot to land Harris, especially after Lindsey left the class.

    Tight End

    NONE

    Offensive Linemen

    Wyatt Davis, 5-Star

He’s a bully in the trenches and will be a huge piece of the Ohio State running game moving forward.

    Josh Myers, 5-Star

Myers has great footwork and will help keep a clean pocket for the Buckeyes.

    Defensive Linemen

    Chase Young, 5-Star

He’s an athletic defensive end with a great motor.

    Marvin Wilson, 5-Star

The Buckeyes are battling Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma and USF for the No. 1 defensive tackle.

    Haskell Garrett, 4-Star

Martell’s high school teammate, Garrett fires off the ball and is athletic on the defensive line as a 3-technique.

    Jerron Cage, 4-Star

He’s not the most fundamentally sound defensive tackle, but he’s strong and has a great first step.

    Jay Tufele, 4-Star

Ohio State is trying to fend off BYU, Michigan, Oregon, USC and Utah here.

    Linebackers

    Baron Browning, 5-Star

There’s a chance Browning plays inside linebacker for Ohio State, but he can do it all, really.

    Pete Werner, 4-Star

Ohio State flipped Werner from Notre Dame. He’ll fit nicely next to Browning.

    Defensive Backs

    Jeffrey Okudah, 5-Star

He has the ability to play either cornerback or safety for the Buckeyes.

    Shaun Wade, 4-Star

Wade is easily one of the best playmaking corners in the class — great ball skills.

    Isaiah Pryor, 4-Star

He flashes great closing speed and can make plays in the box as well as plays on the ball.

    Amir Riep, 4-Star

Riep is quite physical and has great ball skills.

    Marcus Williamson, 3-Star

It’s hard to find any cornerback as quick out of his breaks as Williamson is.

    Athletes

    Brendon White, 4-Star

White could easily make the transition to wide receiver for the Buckeyes once he gets to Columbus.

    Kickers

    Blake Haubeil, 3-Star

He’s a 6-foot-3, 200-pound kicker. He’s connected from 61 yards out and had room to spare before.

    Class Ranking Prediction: 3-5
