SEC football predictions and schedule for every game in Week 13 of the 2016 season. Auburn will look to win in Tuscaloosa for the first time since Cam Newton was the Tigers signal caller.
With the spots in the SEC title game already decided, Week 13 largely becomes about pride for most of the conference’s teams. Auburn looks to end Alabama’s undefeated season as the Tigers head to Tuscaloosa for the 81st Iron Bowl. The Crimson Tide looked sluggish at times in their 31-3 win over Chatanooga, trailing for much of the first quarter and not really putting the game away until the third quarter against the FCS foe. Coach Nick Saban will surely have his team focused against its biggest rival, as the Tide will look to complete their second undefeated regular season under Saban.
Malzahn and the Tigers will certainly face an uphill battle, especially as starting quarterback Sean White and starting running back Kamryn Pettway remain banged up. The last time Auburn was able to escape Bryant-Denney Stadium with a win was with Cam Newton calling the shots, and they needed four TDs from Newton to pull out a one-point win. The Tigers will likely need a Newton-like effort from someone other than White or Pettway if they want to pull off the upset.
Elsewhere in conference action, both Vanderbilt and Ole Miss will look to gain bowl eligibility as they face in-state rivals Tennessee and Mississippi State. It’ll be an uphill battle for the Commodores, who lost by 25 points to the Vols in Knoxville last season and have only made it to four bowl games in the last 30 seasons. However, they’re coming off a dominant performance against Ole Miss. Meanwhile, the Rebels look to make it to their sixth straight bowl game under Hugh Freeze.
