    USF vs. UConn Game Preview

    When: Saturday, October 15 – 7:00 p.m. ET
Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL
    TV Broadcast: CBS Sports Network

South Florida is one of the more underrated teams in the country, and it all starts with the play of quarterback Quinton Flowers. Leading the team to a 5-1 record, Flowers has beaten teams with his arm and legs. The defense hasn’t been bad either, giving up only 24.8 points per game.

UConn got off the struggle bus last week with a great defensive win against Cincinnati. The Huskies held the Bearcats to two yards rushing, and will now look to contain the explosive Bulls offense that averages 35.2 points per game.

    What To Know About USF

Flowers is not talked about much in the national picture, but he should be. He has a combined 15 touchdowns (11 passing, four rushing) to only three interceptions and, along with running back Marlon Mack, makes up one of the best backfields in the AAC.

The defense is only allowing 350.6 yards per game, and will face a UConn team that has struggled to rush the ball all year, averaging 134.5 yards on the ground.

    What to Know About UConn

The offense has been horrible, as it ranks No. 105 in the nation averaging only 360.8 yards of total offense per game. Quarterback Bryant Shirreffs has a good completion percentage at 61%, but the touchdowns are not coming for a team needs some jolt on offense.

Shutting down Flowers is the top priority for UConn, and it will try to do that with a rush defense that is allowing a mere 98.8 yards per game. If the Huskies can make USF one dimensional on offense, they could possibly stay in this game.

    Advantages

Offense: USF. The Bulls will try to overpower UConn with the ground game …

Defense: Tie. …but it won’t be easy, as the Huskies are legit when it comes to stopping the run.

Special Teams: Tie. Both teams have excellent field goal kickers that are golden from 45 yards in.

Coaching: USF. Wille Taggart is overlooked by national media as a potential replacement at a bigger school.

Intangibles: USF. First place in the East is theirs if the Bulls just keep on winning.

    Matchup To Watch

Quinton Flowers vs. UConn run defense

Flowers can run and pass, but taking one of those options away from him with a solid run defense will make him easier to contain.

    USF vs. UConn Betting Odds

    Spread: USF -19.5
    Over/Under: 53.5

    USF vs. UConn Prediction

The Huskies could have some success on defense stopping the Bulls attack in the first half, but with the UConn offense not being able to move the chains, the defense will tire quickly. That is when Flowers and company strike, and strike big. USF pulls away in the second half and stay in first place in the AAC East..

USF vs. UConn Score Prediction: USF 38, UConn 17
